If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience. (1 Corinthians 10:27 ESV) I’ve been on a few mission trips in my life. Therefore I’ve had the joy of eating rubbery chicken hearts and having a shot of homemade Russian [...]
“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” – Benjamin Franklin (kind of) If you get around Christian beer drinkers long enough, someone is bound to bring up the epic quote from Benjamin Franklin above. So it was only a matter of time before I brought it up on theBeerean.com, and what better day than [...]
I don’t know exactly how to say this…I’m getting tired of the smug looks, the condescending tones, the holier-than-thou words, and the Bible gymnastics I get when people tell me about their convictions. This is mostly when someone tells me that they feel convicted to not drink alcohol. Let me clear the air right now…if you are convicted by the Holy Spirit [...]
The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ (Luke 7:34 ESV) So here is the big question…what are your plans for this Sunday? Sometimes it’s the smallest phrases that can show some of our deepest sins. I think this is the case with the phrase, “I need a beer.” We’ve all experienced one of those days where everything seems to go wrong. You wake up late (or too early), there’s no hot water in the shower, there’s no milk for cereal (worst, it’s sour), you’re [...]
So I just recently inherited a kegerator from a friend of a friend. This might sound weird to some, but I actually got it as a ministry opportunity. This summer I’m planning on hosting several BBQ’s and poker tournaments at my house to get to know my neighbors. Nothing is a better conversation starter than a nice cold one. So I got the kegerator as an opportunity to always have some beer on tap.
photo by: plasticpeople For those of you that don’t know, today is Cinco De Mayo (Mexican 4th of July). In my opinion, this is one of the two beer drinkingest holidays of the year (St. Patrick’s Day being the other). I know people get their drink on during other holidays of the year, but that’s just it…they’ll drink anything (beer, [...]
